6 Cool cmd tricks

Hey guys welcome to my blog post. Today I am here with some of the cool command prompt tricks which are very helpful for everyone. Command prompt is really a very helpful tool, if we know to use it. We can perform all the actions using just some simple commands. We can create/delete any folder, create/delete any file or run any application on our pc. So here are some tricks to make this command prompt even more cool.

1. Change the color theme

So color theme is very good way to make your cmd look better. So to change the color theme of your command prompt just type color help. It will show a list of all the colors. Then select two hex codes, the first one for background color and the second for text color. Then type it in the following way color 0a and hit enter. This trick changes the color of your command prompt screen temporarily. To change it permanently just click on cmd symbol given on the very top-left corner of your cmd window and select the defaults option. Here you can change the color and other font related properties and save them. Then you need to restart your command prompt window to see the changes.

2. Change the cmd title text

It is also a very nice trick. You can change the title of command prompt using this trick. By default the title is Command Prompt. You can change it to anything you want. Just type title ? replacing the ‘?’ with the title that you wanna give and hit enter. In this way you can easily change the title.

3. Change the prompt text

This trick is literally very cool. Using it you can change the prompt text to anything of your choice. By default it is some location in the C drive. But it can be changed anytime you want. Just type prompt name replacing ‘name’ with the name that you wanna see as the prompt text. To add greater than sign just type $g. it can help you separate your prompt text from the commands that you type.

4. Clear the command screen

This is really usefull when you spend a lot of time typing commands and resulting in the command screen becoming too long. So to clear the screen just type cls. It will clear the screen and all the commands it contained leaving behind the prompt text.

5. Scan your pc for problems

So guys here is another useful trick you should know. It search the pc for virus and corrupted files and fixes them. It is also very helpful. So to scan your pc just type sfc /scannow and hit enter. It will start a scan. This process may take some time so just be patient and wait.

6. Cancel any running command

This trick is useful when you have typed some command and hit enter but now want to cancel the ongoing process. So to cancel the command just press ctrl + c.
