How to set up Live Server in Visual Studio?


Hey guys welcome to my blog pos. today I am gonna tell you about a very interesting feature provided by Visual Studio Code Editor. Visual Studio is a free code editor provided by Visual Studio Community. This feature is very useful for the Web Developers who are very bored of again and again going to the browser and refreshing the page to see the changes you make in the code. It provides a live server using which all the changes take place automatically without a need to refresh.
To start this live server you need to follow the following steps:-

  1. Go to your Visual Studio Code.
  2. In the left Sidebar, click on the Extensions.
  3. Make sure you have an active internet connection.
  4. Then in the search box that is given in the top of extensions tab, search for Live Server.
  5. In the search results look for Live Server extension provided by Ritwick Dey.
  6. Click on this extension and then click on Install button.
  7. Once the extension get installed you will see a Go Live button in the bottom status bar. Click on that button.
  8. Then go to your browser, there you will see another tab opened.
  9. This tab will show all the live changes you make to your code.

To stop live server, click on the Port:5500 button that takes place of Go Live button when you start it. In this way you can see all the changes happening live. I would recommend you not to use live server while using Loops in the javascript code because when you do so your program may go in an infinite loop and your program may crash. You can change the time delay after which your program should refresh. Go to settings and type Live Server in the search box. Then you will see a lots of settings related to your live server extension. You can change them according to your demand and save them.
